To recap, here is the photo you were using as a clue.
So, did you notice the spelling of the name Andersen?
Do you know the significance of the difference between AndersEn and AndersOn?
Yes? Good…so you then knew this photo was taken in Denmark.
Secondly…did you know who H.C. Andersen is?
Of course, Hans Christian Andersen.
Hence, the photo was taken at the
Hans Christian Andersen museum in Odense, Denmark.
Odense was the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen and the building above was his childhood home. It now is part of the museum celebrating his life.
The museum opened in 1908 (I am pretty sure I am correct about that date) and over the years it has been continually added to.
Aside: I am assuming you know he is the author of such famous stories as
The Ugly Duckling, The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor’s New Clothes, etc.
While at the museum you can sit at one of the numerous listening posts and enjoy many of his folk tales.
Did you know that he was taller than the national Danish average?
A statue of him gives you a chance to experience his height.
He also was an avid traveler. A magnet I purchased at the museum has this quote…
To travel is to live. H.C. Andersen
In the museum there are several of his travel journals…and quotes from some of his hosts. (Apparently he sometimes stayed a bit longer than his host/hostess had anticipated.)
So, as you travel through Denmark
think of H.C. Andersen
(he likely traveled this same path).
