One of the thrills of traveling is the connection one feels with the history of a place or a person. For me this might happen in one of two ways. Sometimes I research an historical event or research the life of a famous person before leaving home…and then visit places connected to that event or person. Other times we stumble upon a place with an historical connection…and research it there and when we get home. Either way, I learn a lot of history.

So, with that in mind…let’s check out a bit of history.
