A Ride on London Eye

Today we are going to take a bird’s eye view of London, England. Welcome to the London Eye.
We have booked tickets on-line so we just have to pick up our boarding passes at the County Hall (next door to the London Eye). We are here early…our booking is for 10:00 am and it is now 9:15. What! there is no line so we can board early! Let’s go!
Aside: This situation does not seem to happen very often as we have seen London Eye line ups (in Britain they would say queues) that seem to stretch forever and beyond.
We luck out again when the people behind us are having problems getting organized (and the slow moving wheel does not wait for anybody) so there are only five (5) people in our pod!!
Off we go. See there is County Hall were we picked up our boarding cards.
The pod behind us is not that full either. Maybe going early in the morning is a wise choice.
Do you recognize the buildings down there on the right?
Yes, those are the Parliament Buildings and Big Ben.
There are “listening devices” on board that have a running commentary telling you about the buildings (and some of their history) that you see below.
If you get confused about which direction you are looking just look up above some of the windows in your pod. Someone was thinking like a tourist when they put that up!
So sit back (there are a few benches on board!) and enjoy the thirty minute ride. Wander around the pod and enjoy a bird’s eye view of London.
Back again on ground level one now has an even greater appreciation of just how big the London Eye is.
One more thing to consider…
be in Central London when the lights come on.
The London Eye is extra pretty when lit up.
(Maybe one of these days we will take a ride on it in the evening. One likely would get a slightly different bird’s eye view when the city is lit up!)
