Our hop- on hop-off bus takes us along Tamaki Drive on the waterfront…
Past Okahu Bay where we find Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium…
and up the hill to Bastion Point and the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park.
(Michael Joseph Savage is a much respected Prime Minister of New Zealand.)
The view from up here at Bastion Point is something else.
(Hint: Click on any photo to enlarge it.)
This large green grassy summit is also rather significant in the history of the Maori people. (Google Bastion Point Occupation and/or Protests)
Continuing inland we find…
Eden Gardens
(gardens built in an old quarry site)
Wintergarden
where many social events are held
Auckland Zoo
Parnell Village
with its boutique type shops
Eden Park
(home of the All Blacks)
If you follow rugby (as most Kiwis seem to do!), you know the All Blacks
and all the famous players whose statues surround the stadium.
Auckland Museum
(To read more about the museum, click here.)
There is so much more to show you but for now let’s head back through the residential areas of the city
and back to the waterfront downtown.
Aside: It seems as if a fellow Canadian is also travelling the world! We have seen signs promoting his shows in Paris, Johannesburg, and now in Auckland!
Yeah,Michel Buble.
