Caixa Forum. Now what in the world would that be! I know the Forum in Rome but I did not know Madrid had one.
Hmm…let’s check it out.
In all honesty, it was not the name that brought us here. We were just wandering the streets of Madrid near the Prado when we saw the vertical garden (on the right of the above photo).
So it was this garden that made us stop and marvel at the beauty of it. Well, I marveled at the beauty while my hubby tried to figure out how they built it and how they could water all those plants.
(Hint: Click on any photo to enlarge it.)
Then we took a second look at the buildings around here and saw the sign (refer to the first photo again) and decided to investigate.
This turned out to be a very wise move as Caixa Forum held our interest for at least two hours as we wandered through their engaging exhibitions.
The building itself is ultra modern. We learned it was designed by the same two Swiss architects/artists that designed the Modern Tate in London. Even without the exhibitions I think I would have spent a fair bit of time just exploring the building.
The entrance gives you just a taste of the modernistic (futuristic ?) look of the interior. Take a look at that staircase!
I am serious…enlarge the picture and take a very close look at the staircase.
And the welcome sign gives a hint of the warm, welcoming feeling you get from all the staff inside!
So when you are in Madrid visit Prado (very close by) but reserve some time for Caixa Forum as well.
