Camps Bay, South Africa

What place in South Africa has the reputation of
being “the” place to be seen…
also for being expensive,
and having gorgeous beaches?
Well that would have to be Camps Bay, South Africa wouldn’t it.
Next question.
Here we are at a crossroads…Table Mountain or Camps Bay?
(Hint: click on the photo to enlarge it)
Answer: Since it is very cloudy we will not be able to go up Table Mountain. That means we will be heading down to Camps Bay, right?
Camps Bay it is.
Today the beaches are not all that inviting
but, it really is not that bad! Come on down.
Aside: We learn that water here (Atlantic) is colder in the summer than in the winter.
The reason…the melting of ice in the Antarctic during the summer.
Near Durban (long way from here) the Indian Ocean is warm and welcomes swimmers.
There are a lot of restaurants to choose from, aren’t there.
How about Ocean Blue…I’ve read about that somewhere.
Seafood is delicious here…but I really prefer to have the shells removed (less messy to eat).
But the best thing…the most “Camps Bay thing”, in my opinion…
at the next table a film crew is eating and discussing locations and schedules. We are in!
Table Mountain is still enshrouded in cloud but
we do get a pretty good view of the Twelve Apostles.
Our best picture opportunity near Camps Bay came a few days later when it was a bit sunnier.
