We are up to ten countries now, correct?
Canada, Norway, Scotland, England, New Zealand,
Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, China, Iceland
If you have not been following this series, there is a link at the bottom which will lead you to a review page.
So, let’s continue our quest re how many countries have waterfalls.
Lata Iskander
Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
We were traveling through countryside like this, winding our way up and up towards Tanah Rata when we came upon Lata Falls (Iskandar). One just parks at the side of the steep road and walks up (or down, depending on where you can find a parking space) and there are the falls. I watched in concern as a young family came sliding down the chute on rubber tire “thingees”.
Maui, Hawaii
A much more relaxing waterfalls was this one near the Iao Needle (Kuka’Enioku) on the island of Maui.
Ruby Falls
Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
Yes, I am aware that is not a waterfall…however, inside Outlook Mountain there is a waterfall. You have to take a guided tour down into the caverns. An elevator takes you down, down, down. Then you walk quite a distance enjoying the stalactites and stalagmites until you finally come into a small dark , dark room. The lights come on and there are Ruby Falls…
…a 145 foot high underground waterfall.
Shanklin Chine
Isle of Wight
You really do have to enlarge this photo (just click on it) to get a feel for where I was to take this photo on the IOW. This is Shanklin Chine. What is a chine you ask...join us there to discover what it is.
Mealt Falls
It is called Kilt Rock because the folds of the earth rather look like the folds of a kilt. You can get really close (for some of us, uncomfortably close) to Mealt Falls which pour down Kilt Rock.
This next photo was not photo shopped! I really was that close…only a small fence barrier literally on the edge.
It is said that some days the wind is so strong that the falls actually reverse. Thank goodness today was a calm day!
Continental Divide
Southern Alps Highway, New Zealand
Driving along this highway on the south island of New Zealand, one encounters many waterfalls. I have no idea what the name of this one was, but this photo captures a bit of the power of the rushing water…which way this one was going, I am not sure.
So that is five more waterfalls in five countries
(but three countries are repeats..Scotland, England, New Zealand)
so we are now up to twelve countries!
