Well, did you enjoy the juicy gossip that was whispered to you as you sat in this alcove?

Where in the world are we?

Yes, we are in London, England touring Kensington Palace.

Approaching by way of the park we caught a glimpse of the palace from across Round Pond.

Then these famous gates…

where all those flowers were left after the death of Princess Diana.

 After having a quick lunch on the grounds, we purchased our tickets to enter the building. (Lucked out, didn’t we. If it had been busier I can see where advance ticket purchases would have been a wise choice.)

Oh, that walk up The King’s Staircase up to The King’s State Apartment was awe inspiring. Did you recognize any of those people watching as we went up to see the king?

 

You know, I loved the rich dark wood in some of the apartments, but to be very honest, I could not stay in them for very long. Way too dark! Even with windows I think a room like this would become depressing after a while.

The rooms with larger windows and lighter coloured walls were much more inviting.

Loved the historical displays and guided tours. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and charismatic, wasn’t she. Her love of history shone through!

 

For me, Kensington Palace will forever be associated with Princess Diana so it was nice to see a photo of her on the main floor.

 

There are special exhibitions at Kensington Palace which change from time to time. When we were there Victoria Revealed was one of the Exhibitions. Did you know Queen Victoria was born right here in Kensington Palace? Do you think that was her actual wedding dress or a replica as you entered the large room devoted to this exhibition? Either way she was a very tiny woman if that wedding dress is any indication!

Oh my, I am beginning to understand the whispering walls.

It is so easy to speculate (gossip?) isn’t it.
