A Day in Puerto Vallarta

Experiencing early morning, just as the sky begins to lighten over the Sierra Madre mountains, is a quiet, peaceful, rejuvenating way to begin the day.
Swallows live under the roof tiles of our condo. Each morning they (and a dove that sleeps on the roof of the building next door) have a lovely ritual. As the sky awakens with a hint of colour, the white dove takes off and does a preliminary flight. When she returns a few swallows from my building take to the sky.
(Hint: Click on any photo to enlarge it.)
They do an aerial “dance” and then return to invite other swallows to take to the sky to do their “dance”. At the precise moment that the sun itself peaks over the mountain tops, hundreds of swallows take off from my building and over the next ten minutes or so they perform an aerial ballet welcoming the new day. Now that is a true salutation to the dawn!
We could sit on the balcony and read… watching and listening to the waves.
and/or
we could head out for a Mexican breakfast.
Perhaps a cruise ship will be coming into harbour today…let’s go check.
Then we could spend some time in the pool or out on the beach.
When it starts getting too hot for me to be out there, we could explore the kitchen garden (many hotels/condos grow their own herbs, etc).
Do you recognize the name of that cactus? (Click photo for a better view.)
Nopal…that’s the plant on our grill last night.
Aside: an aquired taste, very bland, not for me.
I love to wander looking at decor and art. Lots is to be found. Coming?
I could spend several hours each day just experiencing the colours
and unique perspective of art found in Puerto Vallarta!
We could go on a wildlife expedition!
See! There’s a…hmm, a little creature.
and there is a larger one! I know that is an iguana.
Isn’t he cute!
and there is a white bird (a heron?) stalking his lunch
Yes, I know. I really should consult a local for the actual names of the fauna!
Hungry?
(Yes, that is corn in the dessert!)
This evening let’s attend a Mexican Fiesta on the beach…
and later we can take in another show!
And then, tomorrow morning we can get up early enough to be down at the north end of the Malecon to join in the guided walk celebrating the sculpture along the boardwalk! It begins at 9:30 and we want to be there on time.
Aside:We did make it on time! Here is the first sculpture on the tour…with the artist himself telling us how it came to be!
