Baking Tortillas in San Sebastian del Oeste

Every country seems to have some type of flatbread that they call their own. In Mexico it is tortillas.
While in San Sebastian del Oeste our tour group was taken to a pretty restaurant where homemade tortillas were baked while we lined up for our delicious buffet lunch. Please join our group to share the experience.
Hola, senora. May we watch as you prepare the tortillas?
The dough has been prepared earlier and is being stored in a cooler.
Rather than using a rolling pin the baker places the dough in this press and flattens it into a round shape.
Then dough is placed upon a hot grill to bake.
I was surprised when some of the tortillas puffed up…had not expected that.
Soon they are perfectly baked and ready for us to add the filling…and eat. Yummy!
