Best Things About Kelowna, BC

The best thing about Kelowna? The best things to see and do?
Well, first of all you would have to know where Kelowna is. It is a small city on the shores of Lake Okanagon in the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada.
For many people the physical act of getting to Kelowna might not be the best thing about the city. BC has several mountain ranges running north and south which makes driving east and west through the province a bit of a challenge.
Hint: Just make sure you check out a map before you start out so you make sure you are heading down the right valley (or you may end up quite a ways from where you wanted to be).
Near the top of my best things list is the Kelowna Community Theatre. This is live theatre of high quality…presented in a wide range of genres. During our last trip we saw a comedy show (Craig Ferguson performs here quite often) and a musical tribute to the legends of rock and roll.
But the top of my best list is the Boardwalk along the waterfront.
Located on the east shore of Lake Okanagon, the Boardwalk is easily accessed from the downtown area. The photo above was taken the same day as the following photo, so you get a feel for the variety of vegetation along the walk.
In addition to the natural scenery one finds art in a variety of forms. For example on the north end of the boardwalk you will find these bathers, who are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
On the southern part of the Boardwalk you will find the oldest sculpture.
It is of Ogopogo, the real monster (or is it mythical?) that lives in the depths of the lake.
So the oldest sculpture is along the Boardwalk and so is the newest one…the Blue Bear.
Isn’t he gorgeous?
Hint: If you click on the photo it will enlarge so you can see some of the sculptures within this sculpture.
So take a leisurely stroll along the Boardwalk in Kelowna, BC…one the the top things to do and see in this pretty, friendly city.
Dear friends and relatives who live in/near this city. I hope you realize that YOU are the top reason for our visits to your city.
